Job summary

Macsteel Service Centres SA (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Barcode Scanner to join our team in Brakpan. You’ll handle receiving, weighing, barcoding and capturing incoming materials, ensure accurate records, control vehicle flow and support stock procedures.

The role requires Matric/Grade 12, English communication, and good numerical skills. Shifts/overtime may be required to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 is required.
• Tertiary education in Logistics is advantageous.
• Computer experience is advantageous.
• Good numerical skills are essential.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all vehicles entering the premises are weighed in and out with the correct paperwork.
• Barcoding and GRNs of all material and consumables received.
• Scanning the barcodes of coils on trucks coming in.
• Maintain receiving records as specified.
• Check quality, damages and rust of material received.
• Label material received.
• Book material into stock.
• Direct vehicles to correct offloading bays.
• Capture diesel processes.
• Assist with stock takes.
• Monitor weighing procedures for vehicles.
• Verify material is for Coil Processing.
• Control vehicle flow entering the premises.
• Liaise with quality on material returned and procurement staff.
• Assist logistics controller when receiving and stores when required.
• Perform general administration duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum Matric / Grade 12 Essential
• Tertiary education in Logistics advantageous
• Computer experiences advantageous
• Product knowledge of all Macsteel products and the ability to understand and learn new products
• Working knowledge of health and safety and quality control
• Good Numerical Skills Essential

• Prepared to work shifts and overtime

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure all vehicles entering the premises are weighed in and out according to procedure, with the correct paperwork.
• Barcoding and GRNs of all material and consumables received.
• Scanning the barcodes of coils on trucks coming in.
• Maintain receiving records as specified.
• Checking on the quality, damages and rust of material received.
• Labelling of material received.
• Booking material into stock.
• Directing of vehicles into the correct offloading bays.
• All processes of diesel capturing.
• Assisting with stock takes.
• Monitoring if vehicles are weighed in and out as per procedure.
• Verifying if material coming in is for Coil Processing.
• Controlling vehicle flow entering the premises.
• Controlling and liaising with quality on all material returned.
• Liaison with procurement staff.
• Assisting logistics controller when receiving.
• Assisting stores when required.
• General administration duties as required
