Job summary

SA Metal Group is seeking a committed, hardworking Dispatch candidate to support the Senior Dispatch Controller in the Dispatch Department.

Responsibilities include daily dispatch of rolled steel bar products, verification, documentation, and coordinating truck movements while maintaining accuracy and compliance with OHSA regulations.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience in a steel manufacturing or similar environment.
• Experienced in logistics/dispatch of final products.
• Matric or similar with relevant experience.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook) competency.
• High attention to detail essential.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Able to work extended hours including Saturdays and some weekends; overtime on short notice.

• Daily dispatching of rolled steel bar products.
• Daily verification of product tag data and printing of barcode labels.
• Generate required dispatch documentation to accompany loads.
• Coordinate efficient entering and exiting of trucks including weighbridge operations.
• Coordinate loading of trucks while minimizing delays.
• Perform daily dispatch administration and update records.
• Ensure correct identification, labeling and placement of stock in storage bays.
• Adhere to OHSA regulations.

The SA Steelworks Dispatch Department requires a committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to assisting the Senior Dispatch Controller within the Dispatch Department.

Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Daily dispatching of rolled steel bar products;
• Daily verification of product tag data & printing of barcode labels;
• Generate required dispatch documentation to accompany loads;
• Coordinate efficient entering and exiting of trucks including weighbridge operations;
• Coordinate efficient loading of trucks while minimizing delays;
• Perform daily dispatch administration, i.e. updating records;
• Ensure daily correct identification, labelling and placement of stock in the storage bays;
• Adhere to the regulations as set out in the O.H.S.A

Applicants Must Have The Following Qualifying Criteria

• 2 – 3 Years experience in a steel manufacturing or similar environment;
• Experienced in logistics/dispatch of final products;
• Matric or similar with relevant experience;
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook) competency;
• High attention to detail essential;
• Good communication skills.;
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment;
• Ability to work extended hours during the week and some weekends (Saturdays) - must be available to work overtime on short notice due to the dynamic nature of the job;
• Valid drivers license with own reliable transport is essential for this position;
• Motivated, responsible and dependable with good work ethic
