Job summary

Midvaal Recruitment is seeking an experienced Storeman based in Cape Town to manage inventory control and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for stock management, material handling, and ensuring timely supply of materials for production.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment and possesses strong organizational skills. A valid driver's license and a forklift license are advantageous.

Position Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Storeman to oversee the day-to-day control of inventory, warehouse operations, and stock movement within their engineering workshop. The successful candidate will ensure accurate stock control, efficient material handling, and timely supply of materials to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, issue and control stock.
• Maintain accurate inventory records.
• Perform daily stock transactions and stock allocations.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and stock takes.
• Investigate stock discrepancies.
• Ensure correct storage of materials and engineering components.
• Pick and issue materials for production.
• Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels.
• Assist with purchasing requests when required.
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing deliveries.
• Operate forklifts or lifting equipment where authorized.
• Maintain warehouse organization and housekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures.
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles.
• Prepare stock reports for management.
• Work closely with Procurement, Production and Dispatch departments.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Storeman within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and stock management systems).
• Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse procedures.
• Ability to read technical documentation and part numbers.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Good numerical ability.
• Forklift license (advantageous).
• Valid driver's license.
