Job summary

Fancourt, South Africa's premier golfing, leisure and lifestyle destination, in George, is seeking an experienced Barman to join our team. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in a 4- or 5-star setting, strong knowledge of cocktails, excellent communication, and a guest-focused approach.

Applicants should be able to work shifts, weekends and holidays, have accommodation in George or nearby, and maintain a high standard of bar cleanliness and stock control. POS experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Barman/Bartender in a 4- or 5-star establishment.
• Sound knowledge of cocktails and liquors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, with a focus on cocktails.
• Ensure drinks are prepared and presented to standard.
• Conduct daily stock takes and rotate stock effectively.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic bar area and proper waste separation.
• Process guest bills accurately and complete cash-ups.
• Keep bar well-stocked, organised and ready for service.
• Provide friendly and attentive service and respond to guest requests professionally.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional with a genuine passion for the industry, who takes pride in delivering friendly, efficient and professional service. The ideal candidate will be guest-focused, confident in their communication and have good numerical and organisational skills.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent;


• A minimum of 2 years experience as a Barman/Bartender in a 4-star or 5-star establishment;


• Sound knowledge of cocktails and liquors;


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;


• A friendly, professional and guest-focused approach;


• Good numerical and organisational skills.

Bar skills training and working knowledge of a Point-of-Sale (POS) system will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving a variety of beverages, with a particular focus on cocktails;


• Ensuring drinks are prepared and presented consistently to the required standard;


• Conducting daily stock takes and ensuring effective stock rotation;


• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic bar area, including the correct separation of waste;


• Processing guest bills accurately and completing cash-ups;


• Ensuring that the bar is well-stocked, organised and ready for service;


• Providing friendly and attentive service and responding to guest requests in a professional manner.

Important Information

• Have their own accommodation in George or the surrounding areas;


• Be willing and able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays;


• Be fit and able to perform the normal responsibilities associated with the position.
