Job summary

Fancourt in George, Western Cape, invites applications for an experienced Barman to join our hospitality team. The role focuses on cocktails, guest service, and maintaining a clean, efficient bar in a premier 4- or 5-star setting.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ barman experience, knowledge of cocktails, strong communication, and good numeracy. Accommodation in George is preferred, and shifts including weekends and public holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Barman/Bartender in a 4-star or 5-star establishment.
• Sound knowledge of cocktails and liquors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A friendly, professional and guest-focused approach.
• Good numerical and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving a variety of beverages, with a particular focus on cocktails.
• Ensuring drinks are prepared and presented consistently to the required standard.
• Conducting daily stock takes and ensuring effective stock rotation.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic bar area, including the correct separation of waste.
• Processing guest bills accurately and completing cash-ups.
• Ensuring that the bar is well-stocked, organised and ready for service.
• Providing friendly and attentive service and responding to guest requests in a professional manner.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional with a genuine passion for the industry, who takes pride in delivering friendly, efficient and professional service. The ideal candidate will be guest-focused, confident in their communication and have good numerical and organisational skills.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent;
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Barman/Bartender in a 4-star or 5-star establishment;

Bar skills training and working knowledge of a Point-of-Sale (POS) system will be advantageous.
