Job summary

Pezula Nature Retreat, part of Village n Life, seeks a friendly Barman to provide timely service and create a welcoming bar atmosphere in Knysna. You will prepare drinks, support waitstaff, manage stock, handle payments, and contribute to guest satisfaction.

The role requires 2–3 years’ hospitality experience, knowledge of cocktails and mixology, and strong guest-facing skills. A dynamic, team-based environment with staff housing options is offered.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• 2–3 years’ experience in a similar hospitality role.
• Knowledge of cocktails, mixology and beverage preparation.
• Strong communication and guest relations skills.
• Ability to handle money and calculations.
• Attention to detail and teamwork mindset.

Responsibilities

• Stock and maintain the bar with beverages and supplies.
• Prepare alcoholic, non-alcoholic and hot beverages.
• Clean and polish glasses and utensils.
• Take food and beverage orders from guests.
• Assist waitrons and support smooth restaurant operations.
• Handle cash, card and room charge payments accurately.
• Upsell accommodation and tourism services.
• Build rapport with guests and manage responsible alcohol service.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and respond to requests or complaints promptly.
• Report maintenance issues and ensure equipment is well kept.

This role forms part of the food and beverage team at Pezula Nature Retreat, within the Village n Life hospitality group.

The Role

As a Barman you’ll provide friendly and timely service, ensuring guests enjoy their time with us and return as loyal customers. You’ll be responsible for preparing drinks, maintaining stock, supporting waitrons where needed and creating a welcoming atmosphere at the bar.
