Job summary

Oude Werf Hotel is seeking a Bar Attendant / Barista to support our onsite outlets in Stellenbosch. You will prepare the area, greet guests, take orders, and serve drinks across restaurant, room service and events.

Mastery of coffee preparation and beverage recommendations will be expected to impress guests. Ideal candidates have a Matric and a recognized mixology/barista certificate, plus 1–2 years in an upscale setting.

Qualifications

• Matric required.
• Mixology and barista certification or equivalent qualification.
• 1–2 years’ experience as bartender and barista in an upmarket environment.
• Ability to work day/night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Work across multiple functions (restaurant, room service, etc.).
• Experience with Micros Symphony and speed point machines.
• In-depth knowledge of wine, cocktails, spirits and coffees.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the service area and welcome guests in a friendly manner.
• Take orders, prepare and serve drinks to customers.
• Provide beverage recommendations based on guest needs.
• Prepare coffees to a consistent standard and upsell where appropriate.
• Work across outlets including restaurant and room service as required.

As a Bar Attendant / Barista, you will work in any food and beverage outlet such as room service, restaurant and conference and events. You will prepare the area for service, welcome and interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks. Interpret guests needs and translate them into beverage recommendations that impress. Prepare coffees at a consistent standard, upselling products and meeting targets.

Requirements

• Matric
• Recognized mixology and barista certification or similar recognized hospitality accredited qualification
• 1 - 2 years’ experience as a bartender and barista in an upmarket environment
• Ability to work various shifts including day/night shifts, weekend and public holidays
• Work across multiple functions (restaurant, room service, etc.)
• Use of Micros Symphony and speed point machine operation
• In-depth knowledge of wine, cocktails, spirits and coffee selections
