Placements24 is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing daily culinary operations for its banqueting and events division in Pretoria. This role demands leadership, culinary excellence, and the ability to deliver high-profile menus for large-scale functions.

You will supervise kitchen staff, manage inventory, ensure food safety standards, and contribute to menu development, helping maintain the company’s reputation for outstanding event cuisine in Pretoria.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume catering or banqueting environment.
• Strong culinary skills with a broad knowledge of cooking techniques and presentation styles.
• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and guide kitchen staff.
• Good understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene protocols.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines inherent in event catering.
• A proactive attitude and a passion for delivering high-quality food and service.

Responsabilités

• Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations for banquets and events.
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, ensuring recipe adherence and quality.
• Manage inventory, stock takes, and assist with food ordering to control costs.
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and safety in all kitchen areas.
• Contribute to menu planning and development with current trends.
• Step in for the Head Chef when necessary, leading under pressure.
