About the Role

Our client, a prominent international player in the aviation industry, is seeking a highly experienced and diligent Aviation Safety Manager to lead their safety initiatives. This critical, fully remote position requires an expert dedicated to upholding and enhancing safety standards across all operational facets. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive safety management system (SMS) that complies with national and international aviation regulations. Your role will involve conducting safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. This role is crucial for maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring the well-being of personnel and the public. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, providing strategic guidance and driving safety performance improvements from a remote operational base. Your expertise will be vital in minimizing risks and ensuring the highest levels of safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS).
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all operations.
• Investigate aviation incidents, accidents, and safety occurrences, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture through training, communication, and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation safety regulations (e.g., SACAA, ICAO, EASA).
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff.
• Monitor safety performance indicators (SPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs).
• Prepare and present safety reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Advise on safety-related aspects of new projects, procedures, and equipment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation safety trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aviation safety management or a related role.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing SMS in an aviation context.
• Strong knowledge of aviation safety regulations and standards (SACAA, ICAO, EASA).
• Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
• Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) are desirable.
• Fluent in English, with excellent written and reporting skills.
