Placements24 is seeking a Remote Aviation Safety Officer to lead the organization's Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) from anywhere in South Africa. You will develop, implement, and oversee safety processes, conduct risk assessments, and promote a proactive safety culture across functions.

The role requires deep knowledge of ICAO, EASA, FAA or SACAA standards, plus at least six years in aviation safety or risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Advanced certifications in Aviation Safety Management desirable.
• Minimum 6 years of aviation safety, SMS or risk management experience.

Responsibilities

About the Role

This is a fully remote position, enabling you to contribute significantly to aviation safety from anywhere within South Africa . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing aviation safety management systems (SMS), conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Advanced certifications in Aviation Safety Management are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in aviation safety, safety management systems, or risk management within the aviation sector.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, EASA, FAA, or SACAA regulations and safety standards.
• Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and developing corrective actions.
• Strong understanding of safety risk management principles and methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, suitable for remote interaction.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and data analysis tools.
• Must be legally authorized to work remotely within South Africa .
