Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Aviation Safety Officer for a prominent global aviation organization. The role focuses on enhancing Safety Management Systems, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture from a home office, with coverage for the Cape Town region.

You will lead SMS deployment, incident investigations, audits and trainings, monitor safety indicators, and advise on safety policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Science, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in aviation safety management and operations.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations, SMS principles, risk management techniques, and accident investigation methodologies.
• Experience with safety reporting systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and training skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage projects remotely.
• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., ICAO Safety Management Systems) are highly desirable.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office environment.

• Conduct thorough safety risk assessments, hazard identification, and develop mitigation strategies for aviation operations.

• Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, training, and engagement with operational staff and management.

• Monitor safety performance indicators (SPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs), reporting on safety trends and potential areas of concern.
• Conduct safety audits and surveys to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational safety standards.
