Placements24 in Cape Town, Western Cape, is seeking an experienced Automotive Software Engineer to design, implement, and test embedded software for vehicle control units and infotainment systems. You’ll collaborate with hardware engineers and QA to meet safety, performance, and quality targets in a hybrid work model.

The role requires a strong background in C/C++, RTOS, and automotive protocols (CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet), plus familiarity with AUTOSAR and Vector tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of embedded software development experience in automotive.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems with RTOS.
• Experience with CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet protocols.
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR, Vector tools, Git, Jira.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for automotive control units and systems using C/C++.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, and QA to define software requirements.
• Implement and integrate software modules meeting safety and performance targets.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests for software functionality.
• Debug and resolve defects; participate in code reviews and architectural decisions.
• Stay updated on AUTOSAR, CAN, Automotive Ethernet and related protocols.
