Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Automotive Diagnostic Software Developer for on-site work in Kimberley. You will design, implement, and maintain diagnostic software for ECUs, work with protocols like UDS/OBD-II/CAN, and develop GUIs for technicians.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in automotive software, strong C++, Python or Java skills, and experience with CAN/LIN/Ethernet, embedded systems, and Agile practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years of software development experience in automotive diagnostics.
• Strong programming in C++, Python, or Java.
• Understanding of automotive diagnostic protocols (UDS/OBD-II/KWP2000).
• Experience with vehicle communication buses (CAN/LIN/Ethernet).
• Familiarity with embedded systems and ECU software.
• Knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and teamwork skills.
• Experience with Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain diagnostic software for automotive ECUs.
• Implement diagnostic protocols and communication standards (UDS, OBD-II, CAN).
• Develop GUIs for diagnostic tools for technicians.
• Integrate software with hardware interfaces and data acquisition systems.
• Write and optimize code in C++, Python, or Java.
• Create test cases and perform unit/integration testing.
• Troubleshoot defects and issues reported by users/testers.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define diagnostic requirements.
• Document software designs, APIs, and user manuals.
• Stay updated with advancements in automotive diagnostic tech.
