Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking an experienced security leader for mining environments to manage risk assessments, client relations, and disciplinary processes. You will oversee manpower and equipment, ensure contractual compliance, and handle incident investigations with a focus on Health & Safety and information security.

The role requires 5+ years in mining security, PSIRA Grade A, firearms competence, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Must have 5 years minimum experience in the mining environment.
• Security Management Diploma with a Security B-Tech Degree or equivalent.
• Experience in investigations of criminal cases and internal mine-related cases.
• SAPS experience will be an advantage.
• PSIRA certification Grade A.
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Firearm competency and Regulation 21 certificate advantageous.
• HIRA and Legal Liability trained.
• Relevant experience in a managerial or similar position.
• Not less than 5 years as an Assistant Manager or similar position in a mining environment.
• Confident dealing with the public and community unrest.
• Bilingual (English and any SA language).
• Ability to work under pressure.
• First aid and fire-fighting training advantageous.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Computer literate and MS Office knowledge.
• Willing to undergo polygraph test.
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit record.

Responsibilities

• Provide security advice to client and risk assessments.
• Manage client liaison and professional client relationship.
• Oversee manpower and equipment management.
• Effectively deal with and manage client complaints.
• Ensure that contractual requirements are met.
• Initiate and chair disciplinary hearings.
• Incident and investigation management.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety management.
• Ensure SOPs are followed and policies adhered to.
• Coordinate training to sustain staff performance.
• Attend meetings and take urgent calls, even on rest days.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of good security practices for physical and information security.

Education

Security Management Diploma with a Security B-Tech Degree or equivalent

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

HIRA trained

Legal Liability trained

Bilingual (English and South African language)

Excellent written & verbal communication

Computer literate and MS Office

Polygraph test willing

Firearm competency and Regulation 21 certificate

PSIRA certification Grade A

Not less than 5 years as Assistant Manager in Mining

Not less than 5 years in a managerial or similar position in Mining

Job description

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

• 5 years minimum experience in the mining environment (experience in the PGM environment will be an advantage).
• Security Management Diploma with a Security B-Tech Degree or equivalent will be an advantage.
• Must have experience in investigations of criminal cases and internal mine related cases.
• SAPS experience will be an advantage.
• PSIRA certification Grade A
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Firearm competency and a valid regulation 21 certificate is an advantage (9mm, Shotgun, Self-Loading Rifle, Carbine)
• HIRA and Legal Liability trained.
• Relevant experience in a managerial or similar position.
• Not less than 5 years as an Assistant Manager or similar position, in a Mining Environment.
• Must have confidence in dealing with the public and community unrest.
• Bilingual (English and any other South African Language).
• The ability to work under pressure.
• First aid and fire-fighting training will be advantageous.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Computer literate and knowledge of MS office.
• Must be willing to undergo polygraph test.
