Job summary

The University of Fort Hare is seeking a Security Manager to oversee the safety and protection of mining sites. You will implement security protocols, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate with law enforcement.

Responsibilities include staff training, rostering, incident reporting, budget control, and ensuring compliance with legislation. Strong interpersonal skills and PSIRA certification are essential. Experience in crowd control and CCTV are desirable.

Qualifications

• National diploma in security management will be an advantage.
• Grade 12 is required.
• 5 years’ experience in a similar mining position.
• PSIRA B grade or higher – up to date.
• Firearm Police competency – Handgun/Shotgun
• Familiar with MHSA and related regulations
• Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Good interpersonal skills to liaise with client, community and SAPS
• Experience with CCTV

Job description

As a Security Manager, you will be responsible to oversee the safety and protection of various mining sites. Implement security protocols, conducting risk assessments, coordinating with law enforcement, and training staff on security procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining good relations internal, external and with 3rd party contractor employees
• Ensuring the rendering of security service deliver in line with SOP’s
• Ensuring compliance and that all security officers meet contractual requirements as stipulated by the organization
• Identification and mitigation of risks
• Constantly evaluating the service levels provided and making recommendations to the client regarding the improvement of services
• General management and supervision of security staff and operations, including rosters and posting of staff.
• Ensuring that all HR related queries are dealt with promptly
• Investigating incidents and investigations
• Attend meetings internal, external and with 3rd party contractor employees
• Compile weekly, monthly and annual site incident reports
• Control budget for security operations and monitor expenses
• Stores, stock and asset audits to verify stock and minimise theft
• Security service providers invoicing verification
• Rental machine hours verification
• Security infrastructure review and maintenance. Fulfil security operational expectations

Minimum requirements

• National diploma in security management will be an advantage
• Grade 12
• 5 years’ experience in a similar position in mining
• SAPS/Military experience an advantage
• Must be familiar with all legislation relating to the position
• Have investigating experience
• Firearm Police competency – Handgun/Shotgun
• Firearm training Handgun & Shotgun Business Purpose
• Familiar with MHSA and the control thereof
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
• Good interpersonal skills in order to liaise with client, community, SAPS and outside stakeholders
• Experience in crowd/strike control be an advantage
