Placements24 is seeking an Architectural Designer in Mossel Bay to contribute to design and development of commercial and retail environments from concept through construction documentation.

You will work with senior architects and project managers to translate client briefs into functional and aesthetically pleasing designs, with a focus on branding, materials, and technical requirements for local commercial developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in architectural design (commercial/retail).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong graphic and visualization skills; ability to produce presentation materials.
• Hybrid work model experience and ability to collaborate with project teams.
• Familiarity with Western Cape context is a plus.

Our client, a dynamic and growing architectural firm based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape , is looking for a talented Architectural Designer with a strong focus on commercial and retail spaces. This role involves contributing to the design and development of innovative commercial environments, from concept through to construction documentation. You will work closely with senior architects and project managers, playing a key role in translating client briefs into functional, aesthetically pleasing, and commercially viable designs. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of retail dynamics, branding integration, and the specific technical requirements for commercial developments. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of architectural concepts and designs for commercial and retail projects.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, renderings, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with project teams, including engineers and interior designers, to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Conduct site visits and surveys to gather information and assess existing conditions.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations to articulate design proposals.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards relevant to commercial properties in Mossel Bay .
• Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and construction administration.
• Research new materials, technologies, and design trends relevant to commercial architecture.
• Maintain project documentation and contribute to project archiving.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
• Currently pursuing or holding professional registration with SACAP is preferred.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in architectural design, with exposure to commercial or retail projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong graphic and visualization skills, with the ability to produce high-quality presentation materials.
• Good understanding of building construction methods and materials.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model.
• Familiarity with the unique architectural context of the Western Cape is a plus.
