You will lead design development, create drawings with Revit and AutoCAD, manage project timelines and budgets, and collaborate with engineers and interior designers to deliver integrated retail projects.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of architectural experience in commercial retail.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; 3D visualization a plus.
• Strong knowledge of retail operations and customer experience.
• Ability to manage client relationships and deliver on objectives.
• Excellent conceptual design skills and attention to detail.
• Strong organization and time management; able to work remotely.
• Knowledge of SA building codes for commercial construction.

About the Role

A prominent retail design consultancy based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape , is seeking a talented Commercial Retail Architect with a passion for creating innovative and engaging retail environments. This role is ideal for a creative designer who understands the unique demands of the retail sector, including brand experience, customer flow, and commercial viability. You will be responsible for the full design lifecycle of retail projects, from initial concepts to detailed construction documentation, working with a diverse range of clients. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from any location in South Africa while collaborating with a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop creative and functional architectural designs for retail spaces, including stores, shopping centres, and pop-up experiences.
• Translate brand identity and marketing objectives into compelling physical environments.
• Create detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and material specifications using software like Revit and AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, target audience, and business goals for retail projects in the Eastern Cape and beyond.
• Coordinate with consultants such as M&E engineers, structural engineers, and interior designers to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Manage project timelines and budgets effectively, ensuring timely completion and cost efficiency.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new retail developments.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in retail design, consumer behaviour, and innovative materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of architectural experience, with a significant focus on commercial retail design.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is essential. Experience with 3D visualization software is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising principles, and customer experience design.
