About the Role

Our client, a respected architectural consultancy, is looking for an accomplished Project Architect to join their vibrant studio in East London, Eastern Cape. This role focuses on the design and delivery of a diverse range of commercial and retail projects. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of commercial design trends, and the ability to manage projects from inception through to completion. You will be working with a talented team on exciting new builds and refurbishments that will shape the retail and commercial landscape of the Eastern Cape. Key Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and documentation for commercial and retail projects of varying scales.
• Manage all project phases, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed design, tender documentation, and site supervision.
• Ensure designs meet client requirements, budget constraints, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and local authorities.
• Prepare high-quality architectural drawings, 3D models, and presentations.
• Oversee the technical aspects of construction, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site surveys and analyses to inform design decisions.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall knowledge sharing within the practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Architecture degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in architectural practice.
• Proven experience in the design and delivery of commercial and retail projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant 3D modeling & visualisation software.
• Strong understanding of building codes, planning regulations, and construction methodologies applicable in South Africa.
• Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A creative and problem-solving approach to design challenges.
• Experience with phased project delivery and fast-track construction is advantageous.
• Based in or willing to relocate to East London, Eastern Cape.
