Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Aquatics Manager in Upington to lead all swimming facility operations, ensuring safety, cleanliness and a welcoming environment for patrons. You will supervise lifeguards and aquatics staff, develop programs (lessons, water aerobics and recreational swim), and coordinate maintenance with contractors.

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Current Lifeguard certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
• 3–5 years of experience in aquatic facility management or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of pool operations, maintenance, and water chemistry.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a professional and safety-conscious Aquatics Manager to oversee all operations of their swimming facilities in Upington . This leadership role is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all patrons, managing lifeguards, coordinating swim programs, and maintaining pool facilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of pool operations, safety protocols, and aquatics programming, coupled with strong management and communication skills. You will be key to providing excellent Leisure & Sports experiences centered around water activities for the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of pool operations, including opening and closing procedures, daily maintenance, and water quality testing.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of lifeguards and aquatics staff.
• Develop and implement a variety of aquatics programs, including swimming lessons, water aerobics, and recreational swim sessions.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, maintaining a zero-accident environment.
• Oversee pool maintenance, including chemical balancing, cleaning, and minor repairs, coordinating with external contractors for major servicing.
• Manage the aquatics budget, controlling expenses related to staffing, supplies, and maintenance.
