About the Role

Our client, a premier recreational facility in Durban , is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Aquatics Manager to lead its swimming and water safety programs. This role is responsible for the overall management of all aquatic operations, including staff supervision, facility maintenance, program development, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and member satisfaction. You will play a crucial part in enhancing the aquatics experience for all users, from competitive swimmers to casual patrons, driving participation in lessons, fitness classes, and events. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of all aquatic facilities, including pools, changing rooms, and related equipment.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic staff.
• Develop, implement, and manage a diverse range of aquatics programs, including learn-to-swim, water aerobics, and competitive swim team support.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, emergency protocols, and health standards, conducting regular safety audits.
• Manage the aquatics budget, including staffing, supplies, and maintenance costs, seeking operational efficiencies.
• Coordinate with other facility departments to support events and cross-promotional activities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in aquatics management, including supervisory experience.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications are mandatory.
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Proven ability to develop and manage successful aquatic programs and events.
• Strong knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and safety procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
