About the Role

Our client, a prominent recreational and leisure facility operator, is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Aquatics Facility Manager for their flagship location in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is responsible for the overall management, operation, and maintenance of all aquatic facilities, including swimming pools and associated areas. You will ensure the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer service are met, while also managing staff, budgets, and program development. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of pool operations and safety regulations, and a commitment to providing an excellent experience for patrons. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of all aquatic facilities, including pool maintenance, water quality management, and safety procedures.
• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive aquatics safety policies and emergency action plans.
• Manage and lead a team of lifeguards, swim instructors, and pool attendants, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with all local, regional, and national regulations.
• Manage the aquatics budget, including operational costs, staffing, equipment, and supplies.
• Develop and promote a variety of aquatics programs, such as swimming lessons, water aerobics, and competitive swim team support.
• Ensure the cleanliness and overall presentation of all aquatic areas and surrounding facilities.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and incidents, providing appropriate first aid and support.
• Maintain inventory of pool chemicals, equipment, and supplies, ensuring timely reordering.
• Foster positive relationships with patrons, addressing concerns and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in aquatics management, with a strong emphasis on safety and operations.
• Current Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are mandatory.
• Pool Operator Certification (e.g., CPO, STEM) is required.
• Proven experience in staff management, scheduling, and training.
• In-depth knowledge of pool chemistry, filtration systems, and maintenance best practices.
• Excellent understanding of public health and safety regulations pertaining to aquatic facilities.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
