About the Role

Our client, a renowned organization in the Leisure & Sports sector, is looking for an experienced and passionate Aquatics Program Director to lead and expand their aquatic programs at their premier facility located in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This senior role requires visionary leadership to develop, manage, and promote a comprehensive range of aquatics activities, including swim lessons, competitive swimming, water aerobics, and recreational swimming. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, program quality, and member satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the aquatics program, ensuring quality and safety.
• Manage and schedule aquatic facilities, including pools and related areas.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards, swim instructors, and other aquatic staff.
• Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and national safety regulations and certifications.
• Develop and manage the aquatics program budget, controlling expenses and identifying revenue opportunities.
• Create and promote engaging aquatic activities and events to attract and retain members.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and maintenance for all aquatic facilities and equipment.
• Foster positive relationships with members, participants, and the local community.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and enforce all facility rules and regulations.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in aquatics management and programming.

Requirements

• Significant experience in managing aquatic programs or facilities, preferably in a leadership role.
• Current lifeguard certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent certification.
• Strong knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and safety protocols.
• Proven experience in staff management, training, and supervision.
• Excellent budget management and financial planning skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative aquatic programs.
• A degree or diploma in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs dictate in Richards Bay .
• A passion for swimming, water safety, and promoting aquatic activities.
