Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Aquatic Centre Manager to lead a premier swimming facility in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will oversee daily operations, staff, safety programs, and program development to deliver high-quality swimming experiences for the community.

You will manage budgets, implement water safety initiatives, and drive marketing efforts to increase facility usage. Flexible scheduling, a strong leadership background, and a passion for water safety are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in aquatic facility management or similar role.
• Current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications are mandatory.
• Experience developing and managing swimming programs and staff.
• Strong knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and safety regulations.
• Proven leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate staff.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
• Budget management and financial reporting experience.
• Relevant qualification in Aquatics Management, Recreation, or related field is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in Tembisa, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the aquatic centre including pool maintenance, water quality testing, and safety checks.
• Develop and manage swimming lesson programs, water fitness classes, and other aquatic activities.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, and other staff.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and emergency procedures including emergency action plans.
• Oversee budget, expenses, and revenue-generating opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with members, community groups, and teams.
• Develop and execute marketing initiatives to promote programs and increase usage.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to maintain cleanliness and functionality.
• Manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
