Placements24 is sourcing an enthusiastic Apprentice Chef for a renowned restaurant group in Polokwane. You’ll be mentored by award-winning chefs, handle basic prep, and contribute to menu development while maintaining top hygiene standards.

The apprenticeship offers structured training in classic and contemporary techniques, with exposure to a fast-paced kitchen and a pathway to progression to roles like Commis Chef and Chef de Partie.

Qualifications

• Completed Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• A demonstrable passion for cooking and the culinary arts.
• Previous experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage but not essential.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Eagerness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
• A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients and cooking of various dishes.
• Learn and execute recipes according to established standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to strict hygiene and food safety regulations.
• Support senior chefs with mise en place and daily kitchen tasks.
• Monitor food quality and presentation.
• Assist in inventory management and stock rotation.
• Learn various cooking methods and knife skills.
• Participate in cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and areas.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen team environment.
