Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Strong passion for cooking, specifically fine dining.
• Previous kitchen experience is advantageous.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Legally eligible to undertake an apprenticeship in South Africa.
• Proactive attitude and desire for continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and execution of various dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Learn and master fundamental culinary techniques, including knife skills, sauce making, and cooking methods.
• Maintain impeccable hygiene and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and managing kitchen inventory.
• Prepare ingredients for mise en place for all menu items.
• Learn to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Contribute to menu development and specials as skills progress.
• Ensure consistency in food quality and presentation.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and collaborate effectively with the kitchen team.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and best practices.
