Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
• A demonstrable passion for cooking and the culinary industry.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene principles is preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must be able to work on-site in Paarl, Western Cape.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic are essential.
• Previous experience in a kitchen environment, even as a trainee, is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Learn and master fundamental cooking techniques across different culinary disciplines.
• Maintain impeccable standards of hygiene and sanitation in the kitchen at all times.
• Contribute to menu development and creation of daily specials.
• Manage ingredient inventory, assist with stock rotation, and minimize waste.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support the senior chefs during service periods, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of all orders.
• Clean and organize the kitchen and equipment after service.
• Participate in regular training sessions and culinary workshops.
• Develop a deep understanding of food presentation and plating techniques.
