Placements24 is seeking an experienced AI Operations Manager to oversee deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI systems in a hybrid role based in Paarl, Western Cape. You will lead a team responsible for the full lifecycle of AI models in production, from deployment pipelines to incident response.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MLOps, system administration, and AI/ML concepts, with leadership and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 5+ years in IT operations, system administration, or MLOps.
• Proven experience deploying AI/ML models in production.
• Strong knowledge of MLOps, Kubeflow and MLflow, plus CI/CD.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and AI deployment services.
• Proficient in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Excellent leadership and communication; hybrid work experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee deployment, configuration, and management of AI/ML models into production.
• Develop and implement robust MLOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for AI systems.
• Monitor the performance, health, and security of AI infrastructure and models, ensuring high availability.
• Establish and manage incident response procedures for AI-related issues.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Manage resource allocation and optimization for AI compute and storage needs.
• Develop and maintain documentation for AI operational processes and procedures.
• Lead and mentor the AI operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on emerging MLOps tools and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data governance and security policies.
