Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior AI Systems Engineer to join our client’s Vereeniging, Gauteng team. Design, develop, and optimize AI systems and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and production readiness across AI and ML platforms.

You will build and manage MLOps pipelines, containerize with Docker/Kubernetes, collaborate with researchers and engineers, and implement automated monitoring, security, and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software development, or MLOps.
• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing AI/ML systems.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML services.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Solid understanding of machine learning concepts and workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust AI infrastructure and systems.
• Implement and manage MLOps pipelines for efficient model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Optimize AI model performance and resource utilization in production environments.
• Develop and manage containerization strategies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for AI applications.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues.
• Ensure the security, reliability, and availability of AI systems.
• Automate system administration tasks related to AI infrastructure.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in AI systems engineering and MLOps.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmap for AI infrastructure.
