Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced AI Ethics & Compliance Officer to join our Vereeniging team. You will shape the ethical trajectory of AI development, ensuring compliance with POPIA, GDPR where applicable, and emerging AI laws.

This role requires deep governance knowledge and the ability to train stakeholders across the organization. You will partner with legal, engineering, and product teams to integrate ethical considerations into the AI lifecycle and foster a culture of responsible

Qualifications

Strong understanding of AI/ML ethics and governance.
Familiarity with POPIA, GDPR, and related privacy frameworks.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement AI ethics policies and compliance programs.
Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses of AI systems.
Ensure regulatory compliance across data privacy and AI legislation.
Provide training to teams on ethics and compliance best practices.
Monitor regulatory changes and emerging AI ethical challenges.
Collaborate with legal, engineering, and product teams to embed ethics in development lifecycle.
Maintain documentation on ethics, compliance, and risk management.
