Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth seeks an experienced AI Ethics and Compliance Officer to lead the development of ethics frameworks and ensure regulatory adherence across AI initiatives.

You will conduct risk assessments, monitor compliance with internal guidelines and POPIA, and collaborate with legal, engineering, and product teams to address ethical concerns. Training and documentation will be key duties in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law, public policy, ethics, CS or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain AI ethics framework and compliance policies.
• Conduct regular ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for AI projects.
• Monitor adherence to internal AI ethics guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with legal, engineering, and product teams to address ethical concerns and ensure compliance.
• Investigate and resolve ethical breaches or compliance issues related to AI systems.
• Stay informed about evolving AI ethics best practices and South Africa regulations.
• Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics and compliance.
• Advise management on ethical risks and compliance strategies for new AI tech.
• Maintain records and documentation related to AI ethics compliance.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, Ethics, Computer Science, or related field

Master's degree (preferred)
