Placements24 invites an AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to join our AI division in Centurion, Gauteng. This role ensures that our AI development and deployment adhere to the highest ethical standards and regulatory requirements, promoting fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy across initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's or advanced degree in Law, Ethics, Public Policy, CS, or related field with focus on AI ethics.
• Experience developing and implementing ethical frameworks or governance policies in the tech sector.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their societal implications.
• Knowledge of data privacy laws (POPIA, GDPR).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience conducting audits or assessments related to AI fairness and bias is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics policies, guidelines, and governance frameworks.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI products and features.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (POPIA) and emerging AI legislation.
• Advise development teams on ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Monitor AI systems for bias, fairness, and unintended consequences, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Develop training materials and conduct workshops on AI ethics for internal stakeholders.
• Stay informed about global trends, best practices, and regulatory developments in AI ethics and governance.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to operationalize ethical AI principles.
