Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a principled AI Ethics & Governance Specialist to join its legal and compliance team in Port Elizabeth. You will develop frameworks, policies, and guidelines to ensure responsible AI development and deployment across the business.

You will work with AI teams, legal counsel, and leaders to navigate ethical, regulatory, and privacy challenges, perform risk assessments, advise on fairness and transparency, and deliver training on AI ethics to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, Ethics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of AI ethics or governance experience.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and societal implications.
• Familiarity with ethical frameworks and regulatory landscapes for AI.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Experience in policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine AI ethics principles, governance policies, and standards.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses.
• Advise teams on fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy.
• Monitor regulatory developments in AI ethics and governance globally.
