Job summary

Excellerate seeks an AI & Automation Engineer to design, build, test and support AI-enabled tools, copilots and automation workflows in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. You will translate business problems into scalable automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists and stakeholders to structure data flows, develop reliable integrations, ensure governance and secure development practices, and continuously improve deployed solutions based on

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
4-7 years of experience in software development, automation engineering, AI/ML solution development, systems integration or workflow automation.
Hands-on experience with Python or similar programming languages, APIs, data processing and automation frameworks.
Experience developing practical business solutions from requirements through to testing, deployment and support.
Understanding of cybersecurity, data privacy and secure development principles.

Responsibilities

Design and build AI-enabled tools, copilots and automation workflows for approved use cases.
Develop integrations and automate processes across Operations, Finance, Procurement, QHSE, HR, Portfolio Services and Business Development.
Collaborate with Data Scientist / Analytics Lead to structure data flows for AI and automation use cases.
Ensure AI governance, cybersecurity, data classification and acceptable-use requirements.
Provide technical support and train users on effective and responsible use of solutions.
