Job summary

Durban is seeking an experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of a large scale computing facility within the Electricity Unit. You will oversee Change Control, facility design/maintenance, and project management for the Facilities Section.

Essential qualifications include a Diploma in ICT and an IT security certificate, plus a valid driver's license and at least 4 years’ relevant experience with supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher ICT qualification.
• Advanced IT Security certificate required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 4 years relevant experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and control the activities of the large scale computing facility.
• Manage the daily operations of the data centre for the Electricity Unit.
• Implement and manage Change Control processes and systems.
• Oversee design, build and maintenance of computing facilities.
• Manage and control projects for the Facilities Section.
• Research and adopt industry best practices for data centre and facilities management.
• Ensure security of computer systems, data and facilities.
• Provide input for the ICT Strategy for eThekwini Electricity.
