Job summary

eThekwini Electricity is seeking a Manager (Development) to lead the design, development and implementation of enterprise information systems and software applications. You will plan, coordinate and supervise all related activities and drive ICT strategy with industry best practices.

The role requires a Diploma in ICT with at least 5 years of relevant experience and a valid driver's license. Degree qualification is preferred for future advancement, with 6+ years preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in ICT as a minimum qualification.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license required.
• 5 years of relevant experience in ICT or software development.
• Computer literacy is essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise design, development and implementation of enterprise information systems and software applications for eThekwini Electricity.
• Provide input into ICT strategy and implement industry methodologies, procedures and standards for software development.
• Oversee the specification, development and deployment of new applications, systems software and enhancements.
• Manage projects through risk assessment and impact analysis.
• Research, implement and adapt industry adopted methodologies and best practices for systems development.
• Provide liaison and communication channel to the user as well as third parties.
• Monitor the effectiveness of systems and research latest technological developments.
• Manage staff and set goals to be achieved by the section in line with performance standards.

Job Purpose:

• Provide input into the ICT strategy and implement industry methodologies, procedures and standards for software development.
• Implement and manage change control processes and systems which involve the development and designing of standards in terms of service level agreements.
• Oversee the specification, development and deployment of new applications, systems software and enhancement.
• Manage projects through undertaking risk assessment and impact analysis.
• Research, implement and adapt appropriate industry adopted methodologies, best practices, procedures and standards for systems development.
