Job summary

eThekwini in Durban is seeking a Data Centre Operations Manager to plan, organise and control the activities of the large scale computing facility and to manage the daily operations data centre of the Electricity Unit.

The role requires a Diploma in ICT, an Advanced IT Security certificate, a valid driving licence and 4 years of relevant experience (2+ years in a supervisory capacity). A degree in ICT is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in ICT.
• Advanced Information Technology Security certificate.
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• 4 years relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Optional: Degree (NQF Level 7) in ICT (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and control the activities of the large scale computing facility and manage daily data centre operations.
• Implement and manage Change Control processes and systems.
• Oversee design, build and maintenance of computing facilities.
• Manage and control projects for the Facilities Section.
• Research and adopt industry best practices for data centre and facilities management.
• Ensure security of computer systems, data and facilities.
• Provide input for the ICT Strategy for eThekwini Electricity.
• Plan the activities of the Facilities Section.
