Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. seeks a qualified 2nd Cook for an onboard cruise ship, assisting the Head Chef with menu planning and meal preparation for all meals.

You will follow recipes, maintain high presentation standards, and manage dietary restrictions while ensuring safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced galley environment. Ideal candidates have a culinary degree, 2+ years as a 2nd Cook in high-volume kitchens, strong teamwork, and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience as a 2nd Cook in a high-volume kitchen.
• Culinary degree or equivalent training from a recognized institution.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menus for all meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Follow recipes and ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards
• Prepare and cook meals for guests with special dietary requirements or restrictions On Board Cruise Ship
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and labeling of food items
• Assist with inventory management and ordering of kitchen supplies
• Follow all food safety and hygiene standards to ensure the health and safety of guests and crew members
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, including 3rd Cooks and Galley Attendants
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Housekeeping and Food and Beverage, to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
• Participate in onboard events and activities, such as cooking demonstrations and themed dinners, as required

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience as a 2nd Cook in a high-volume kitchen, preferably in a hotel or cruise ship setting
• Culinary degree or equivalent training from a recognized institution
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and obtain necessary visas and travel documents
