This position pilots state‑owned or leased single‑engine fixed‑wing aircraft and/or reciprocating helicopters in support of law‑enforcement missions, Search and Rescue (SAR), and other directed missions.

• Light single‑engine fixed‑wing aircraft pilot and/or instructor
• Turbine aircraft pilot and/or instructor

The position is based at the Lake Hood Seaplane Base in Anchorage. The pilot may be required to travel throughout Alaska providing aircraft support and following an alternate schedule such as eight days on and six days off. The work environment is friendly, team‑oriented, and productive.

• Current FAA commercial pilot or airline transport pilot certification with instrument rating, and a medical certificate class suitable for the position.
• Required flight hours: 1,500 total, including 500 as Pilot‑in‑Command (PIC) fixed‑wing aircraft, 250 PIC hours in Alaska (100 of which within the last 12 months), and preferred 100 hours of turbine‑propeller experience.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, including post‑maintenance checks and coordination with maintenance personnel.
• Computer skills for web‑based weather briefings, flight‑plan filing, and risk assessment.
• Ability to integrate input from human, machine, management, mission, and environmental factors to make safe aeronautical decisions.

• Must pass a flight check with a certified flight instructor for the specific aircraft model.
• FAA Class II medical certificate required as a condition of employment.

This position requires the use or possession of a firearm or ammunition. Applicants convicted of a misdemeanor domestic‑violence crime are ineligible.
