Job summary

Houston Zoo is seeking a Painter to perform a range of painting tasks across structures and facilities, including outdoor works, enclosures, and interior spaces. The role involves surface preparation, finishing with multiple coatings, and occasional texturing.

You will operate various painting tools and must maintain safety and quality while coordinating with teams. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and about two years of commercial painting experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in paint processes is a plus.
• Two years’ experience with commercial painting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work with a variety of materials and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, prime, sand, seal, repair and paint furniture and surfaces indoors and outdoors.
• Use varnish, lacquer, enamel, latex, epoxy and other finishes as needed.
• Texturize gypsum, wallpaper, and acoustic layers; adjust colors as required.
• Operate and maintain painting equipment; ensure safe storage of materials.
• Work independently with minimal supervision; adhere to safety standards.
