Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock is seeking a Painter II to apply coats of paint and protective finishes to interior and exterior building surfaces. The role may supervise others and may require up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities include surface prep, masking, painting, and creating decorative effects. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and three years of related experience or training; commercial painting experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required; three years of related experience or training.
• Commercial level painting experience preferred.
• Experience reading maps/blueprints/sketches is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reads work orders or instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
• Smooths surfaces and removes old paint to prepare surfaces for painting.
• Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or filler.
• Removes fixtures from walls before painting.
• Tdraps drop cloths and protects surfaces during painting with masking tape.
• Paints surfaces with brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
• Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
• Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders for tasks at height.
• Keeps work areas clean; follows safety policies.
