Job summary

City of Houston is seeking Painters to perform general painting, restoration and refinishing to extend the life of equipment, furnishings, and facilities. Responsibilities include completing work orders, preparing surfaces, and applying paints using brushes or spray methods to achieve specified finishes.

Minimum two years of painting experience is required, with the ability to read instructions and work independently on-site.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and written instructions.
• Two years of experience as a painter are required.
• Experience with painting, restoration, refinishing techniques, and use of common painting tools.

Responsibilities

• Receive and complete work orders, identify repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, filling holes and cracks.
• Apply paint using brushes, spray equipment, rollers; stain, seal, and varnish surfaces.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the work area; assist with inventory of materials and tools.
