Job summary

The Town of Beacon Falls seeks a Zoning & Land Use Enforcement Officer to provide administrative, clerical, and enforcement support across the Land Use Office, Building Department, and Planning & Zoning Office.

Responsibilities include filing, meeting clerking, building permit processing, and enforcing zoning regulations. Strong judgment, independence, and public interaction skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, IT, or related field.
• State Certification as a Zoning Enforcement Officer or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Windows applications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of zoning statutes and municipal processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain log of all open applications and follow up with enforcement officers.
• Serve as primary contact between applicants and the Town.
• Support Land Use Commission during budget season and other departments when requested.
• Coordinate with Commission Chairs to schedule annual meetings and training.
• Clerk municipal meetings, prepare agendas and minutes for commissions.
• Draft agendas and take minutes, prepare meeting materials and schedule rooms.
• Draft reports, respond to correspondence, issue public notifications and prepare ordinances.
