Mortenson is hiring Safety Engineer I/II to implement our Zero Injury Safety program at project sites and to ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors. Roles differ by experience; compensation varies by experience and location.

Base pay for Engineer I and II is published with adjustments by office location. Mortenson offers an incentive plan and a comprehensive benefits package to support safety, health, and development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred.
• OR High school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30‑Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience.
• Detail‑oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety‑related software programs.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
• Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis
• Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings
• Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
• Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
