Job summary

Ensono seeks an experienced ISV z/OS Systems Programmer to install, migrate, and optimize third-party ISV software in a mainframe environment. You will drive product migrations, assess compatible tools, and coordinate with operations and vendors to ensure stable, scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes SMP/E maintenance, IBM utilities, and multivendor ISV support, with remote-friendly options and strong documentation practices.

Qualifications

Extensive experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer for enterprise mainframes.
Experience installing and maintaining ISV mainframe software products.
Hands-on SMP/E installation and maintenance processes.
Background migrating or converting between competing vendor tools.
Strong troubleshooting across the z/OS platform.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade third-party ISV software in a z/OS environment.
Lead migrations to replace mainframe products with alternative vendor solutions.
Conduct product evaluations, proofs-of-concept, and technical comparisons.
Plan and execute product migration/conversion activities and runbooks.
Manage SMP/E operations: RECEIVE, APPLY, ACCEPT, USERMODs, maintenance.
Troubleshoot ISV installations, integrations, and runtime issues.
Collaborate with apps, operations, and vendors to diagnose problems.
Create and maintain installation docs, procedures, and runbooks.
Assist in capacity planning, performance tuning, and support.
Support incident resolution and root-cause analysis for ISV tooling.
Assess impact of new z/OS releases on ISV products.
