Job summary

Hearst Media Production Group is seeking a Video Audience Development Manager (freelance) to own our Lucky Dog YouTube strategy, optimize engagement and revenue, and automate executive-ready reporting. You will work on-site four days a week in Glendale, CA (or Charlotte, NC) and collaborate with producers, design, talent, and sales to scale audience growth while maintaining trust with viewers.

You will define new KPIs, build automated reports, and translate data into practical production

Qualifications

6+ years in digital video strategy or YouTube programming
Proven track record managing a major YouTube channel
Strong fluency in YouTube Studio analytics and experimentation frameworks
Ability to translate metrics into creative direction without overfitting to noise
Experience building repeatable reporting systems and dashboards
Knowledge of YouTube monetization and sponsorship tooling
Excellent cross-functional communication and collaborative skills
Genuine passion for pets and the creator ecosystem

Responsibilities

Own programming strategy for Lucky Dog YouTube channel
Define KPIs, automate reports, and implement platform standards
Develop weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting with actionable insights
Partner with sponsorship sales for monetization initiatives
Analyze viewership trends to inform content optimization
Lead testing and learning for packaging, metadata, timing, and presentation
Improve performance of the library with playlist strategies and metadata refreshes
Socialize best practices across the organization
Coordinate with Content Operations on captioning and publishing workflows
Flag monetization or rights issues early and coordinate resolutions
