Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois in Rockford, IL is seeking an Employment Skills Instructor to help young adults ages 16-24 build work readiness and life skills. The role involves hands-on activities, assessment, and collaboration with employers to create employment opportunities.

Responsibilities include facilitating group and one-on-one work readiness training, career exploration, and documenting outcomes in the program data system, with day hours and some travel to partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and relevant work experience that aligns with the duties of this position.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to coach, train, teach, and engage young adults.
• High customer service focus.
• Functional use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Requires occasional local travel within Goodwill’s territory on a regular schedule. Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with young adults to provide work readiness skills in group settings and one-on-one.
• Teach work readiness and retention skills in an engaging manner for diverse backgrounds.
• Show flexibility and compassion in dealing with individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Assist young adults in career exploration through virtual reality, employment networking opportunities, and employer visits.
