Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Tumbling Instructor at Menino YMCA. You will lead safe, engaging gymnastics and tumbling classes for youth aged 4–12, delivering developmentally appropriate instruction in a supportive environment that reflects YMCA values.

This part-time role requires a background in gymnastics or related activities, strong communication, and the ability to tailor lessons to different ages. Classes run weekly, typically Tuesdays 6-8 pm, with CPR/First Aid training as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Experience in gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading, dance, or related physical education activities.
• Experience teaching youth in recreational or instructional settings preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for youth development.
• Ability to lead engaging classes and adapt to varying ages and skill levels.
• Work Schedule: Classes run once per week for 2 hours per session (typically Tuesdays evenings 6-8 pm).

Responsibilities

• Instruct weekly gymnastics and/or tumbling classes for youth, ages 4–12 (or as designated).
• Prepare and deliver structured lesson plans aligned with YMCA program standards.
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment by monitoring student behavior and reinforcing safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized gym/activity space, ensuring equipment is properly used and stored.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding progress, behavior, and class updates when appropriate.
• Support YMCA programming by participating in special events, session transitions, and promotional activities when needed.
• Report all incidents, injuries, and facility/equipment concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Attend required staff meetings and trainings, including child abuse prevention and CPR/First Aid (if applicable).
