Job summary

YMCA Bay City is seeking a part-time Dance Instructor to teach movement classes for children aged 3 to 10. You will ensure a safe and engaging environment and support youth development within the YMCA program.

Responsibilities include organizing classes, supervising participants, upholding safety policies, modeling core values, and coordinating with staff. Evening availability is required; ability to lift 30 lbs and CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hire is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Background in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop or tumbling.
• Previous classroom instruction experience preferred.
• Ability to respond to children's physical and emotional needs, including emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing dance and tumbling programs for youth.
• Provide supervision to all participants in your program.
• Be visible and accessible to members and guests with professionalism.
• Model YMCA values in all interactions.
• Enforce and follow YMCA safety, cleanliness and facility policies.
• Respond to medical, disciplinary and emergency situations per YMCA policies.
• Assist with setup, takedown and maintenance of class equipment.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Mentor other staff and uphold YMCA standards.
• Ensure classroom appearance; set up and put away equipment before/after class.
