Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest in Spokane seeks a Tumbling Instructor to lead and motivate children in tumbling programs. This part-time role emphasizes safety, enthusiasm, and clear communication in a welcoming YMCA setting.

You will plan and deliver age-appropriate routines, track attendance, supervise group activities, and collaborate with families and staff. A strong gymnastics background and willingness to complete YMCA trainings are required.

Qualifications

• Strong gymnastics background and knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and injury prevention.
• At least six months of related work experience.
• Experience leading groups, especially youth, with ability to create routines and modifications.
• Respond professionally in injuries and emergencies.
• Completes YMCA trainings upon hire.
• Ability to develop positive relationships across backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and administers tumbling curriculum for classes, maintaining safe, effective, modified routines.
• Welcome staff to the facility, keep attendance records, and motivate participants.
• Utilizes spotting techniques and ensures participants only attempt skills they are prepared for.
• Observes participant skills, evaluates needs, and provides feedback.
• Follows safety, emergency, and child abuse prevention policies.
• Set up and tear down equipment daily and report deficiencies.
• Provides ongoing dialogue with families about their child’s participation.
