Job summary

Safe Place for Youth in Venice, CA is seeking a Health and Wellness Substance Use Therapist to grow SPY’s clinical programming by offering individual and group therapy with a harm-reduction approach.

The role involves delivering services at the Venice drop-in Center and housing sites, developing programs to expand social support, reduce stigma, and improve health, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mental health-related field such as social work, psychology, or counseling.
• Licensed or registered with California BBS or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of direct clinical experience.
• Experience in substance use treatment and crisis management.
• Experience with youth and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy with a focus on substance use and harm reduction.
• Deliver in-person services at Venice drop-in center and housing sites.
• Develop community programming to reduce stigma and support recovery.
• Participate in on-call rotation, complete risk assessments and safety plans.
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and document progress.
• Collaborate on treatment plans and liaise with partner agencies.
• Attend community meetings and provide staff trainings.
• Ensure timely clinical documentation and reporting.
